Well we are now on US soil after the 16 hour long flight over to LA via New Zealand and then our red-eye flight from LA to Raleigh North Carolina, via Dallas. Surprisingly, we travelled quite well on such a long trip and were able to function well too on touch down - albeit in a slightly blurry eyed mode (I only had one coffee for the whole flight and it was disappointing... should have listened to you, Dave, and got the double shot after all!) We were glad to catch up with my family again and just spend some relaxing family time together.
Here are a couple of little stories from our first few nights in the USA...

| The burgers are better... in the USA? |

| Yes... Laura does not even come up to the top of the Ute's tray! |
When we finally got to Raleigh in North Carolina (after approximately 36 hours of flights and numerous stop overs) we were met by my uncle at the airport and headed back to their beautiful neighbourhood. So many immaculate double or triple story houses with uniform and clean gardens. Backyards like we know them are not to be seen... there are no fences anywhere! It's kind of nice that people are happy for kids and animals to just run through their backyards.
We are so glad to be here and are already starting to well and truly settle into holiday mode. Stay tuned and we'll post some more stories from our adventures soon!

what a nice family home and gardens, lost count of the calories in the burger and chips, that ford would need a fuel levy for all passengers!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the homes in this part of the world are really stunning. The gardens are full of colour and are spectacular to look at.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to pay the fuel bill for that Ford that's for sure! Fuel is still cheaper than what we buy it for in Australia over here, and Americans seem to be holding on to their big cars still. You see a lot of Ford F250s and bigger everywhere on the motorways.
Always fill up on caffeine when you can... Never know how long it will be 'till you can fill up again in those parts of the world Joel.
ReplyDeleteYeah you're right. Have you noticed how big their coffee mugs/cups are though? I mean, an Australian small size is non-existent over here and our large is their small... Laura and I had coffee the other day and we could have just about had a swim in the mug they gave us! The coffee so far has been pretty good though... your advice to check if they give you a double shot or single has worked wonders for me so far. Now to check out the fine coffee and cuisine in NYC...
ReplyDeleteYou'll love NYC. Very cosmopolitan ... Great coffee and food. Good time of year to visit too. Keep us updated.
